Accounting Manager
Full-Time · Remote · CPG & Consumer Brands Focus · $85,000 to $115,000
About Thryve
Thryve is a modern accounting and advisory firm built for founder-led and owner-operated businesses. We go beyond the books, connecting accounting to cash flow, operations, and growth strategy so our clients can make smarter decisions faster. Our team works across CPG, e-commerce, construction and trades, professional services, and growth-stage companies. We don't do generic. We do sharp, practical, high-quality work, and we're looking for someone who holds themselves to the same standard.
The Role
As an Accounting Manager at Thryve, you'll own the accounting function for a portfolio of consumer brands, primarily in food and beverage, apparel, and beauty. You'll drive month-end close, catch what others miss, and translate numbers into insight. You'll work closely with our advisory team, contribute to process improvement, and grow with a firm that's building something different.
What You'll Do
• Own month-end close across multiple client engagements, on time, every time
• Prepare and review financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable workflows, including invoice processing and payment runs
• Perform detailed bank, credit card, and intercompany reconciliations with a high standard for accuracy and accountability
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting as needed
• Identify accounting discrepancies, research root causes, and see them through to resolution
• Document processes and contribute to SOPs as we scale our internal systems
• Collaborate directly with clients and work cross-functionally within the Thryve team
• Onboard new clients and get up to speed on their systems and history quickly
• Jump in on special projects including cleanup engagements, systems migrations, and exit readiness
Industries You Know
CPG experience is required. You should have meaningful hands-on experience in at least two of the following:
• Food and Beverage: COGS structure, distributor and retailer relationships, spoilage, lot tracking
• Apparel: inventory valuation, seasonality, landed cost, returns
• Beauty and Personal Care: vendor payments, product margins, DTC and wholesale accounting
Tools & Systems
You should be proficient and comfortable, not just passable, in: QuickBooks Online (QBO), NetSuite, Xero, Bill.com, Ramp, Google Suite, and Microsoft Excel. We work with a lot of different systems. You don't need to have used all of them, but you need to be the type of person who picks up new platforms fast and figures things out without hand-holding.
What We're Looking For
• 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 in a client-facing or multi-entity role
• CPG industry background: you understand the operational realities behind the numbers
• Reconciliation skills that are genuinely excellent, not just box-checking
• Strong communicator: you can explain a variance to a founder who isn't an accountant
• Detail-oriented without losing the big picture
• Comfortable managing multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously
• Self-directed and organized: you don't need to be told twice
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA track a plus
What Makes Thryve Different
• Real work with real impact: our clients are building companies, not just filing taxes
• A team that values quality over volume
• Advisory-level thinking, not just transaction processing
• Flexibility and remote-first culture
• Full medical, dental, and vision coverage
• Room to grow: we're building something, and we want you to build with us
